Panic systems are go!

Scene: Loaded up and driving into the city, about a half hour drive away, going into see an old friend who's in town at the moment from Japan. Kids in back, DVD on. All's fine.

Me: Did you put Keira in a nappy? (Keira's almost one week in underpants has gone really well. But we decided to safeguard today)
Adam: No! I thought you were going to
Me: No, I just reminded you that she was, I never put my hand up to do it.

Take note, now we're on the Freeway and can't stop, so we both look back fearfully into the backseat and at Keira, frightened, because suddenly her bladder's contents are as volatile as nitroglycerin and could blow at any moment...

Adam: There's a service station on Hoddle St. We'll pull in there.

Luckily, instead of a saturated back seat, I find it hand strokingly dry and I kissed Keira's head for her holding on, because as soon as I put her on that toilet she did a great big wee.

That's all for today. I am a tad unwell. My vertigo has returned and so I'm walking around feeling as if though I'm on a boat rocking in the midst of the Perfect Storm

Get better soon. With blocked ears being enough to make me feel blah today, I can't imagine how bad the vertigo would be.

Happy Toilet Training. Sounds like she's doing really well. And just to throw a spanner in the works.. I learnt, belatedly, when #2 was 7, and we were seeing a specialist nurse at the incontinence clinic (for bedwetting), she told us that the typical parenting strategy of making kids 'go' before you leave (ie. to empty out a half-filled bladder) can lead to the bedwetting.

With only one out of three of mine succumbing to that problem, I don't quite know what to make of it, really...

I also had a shocker time with #1, who would refuse to 'go' before we left, then wet her pants 5 minutes later....

I'm glad those days of volatile bladders are over!!!

Certainly is going to be a roller coaster, especially at night time, because she drinks so much water sometimes we have to change her in the night. Like you would a baby or something

Drinking is good. One of the bedwetting theories was that concentrated urine aggravates the bladder, and makes it 'let go'.

The key is (apparently) teaching the bladder to 'know' when it's full, and then for the bladder to be able to wake up the brain, and say 'hey, let's go to the toilet'.

It's when you get a "bossy bladder", that you have problems. A bossy bladder is one that empties out whenever it feels like it - when it's full and can't easily get through to the brain (ie. a heavy sleeper).. and even when it's 'irritated' by being a bit full (or the more concentrated urine thing).

One of the treatments for #2's bedwetting was to monitor her drinking, and drink more in a day.

So. there's some food for thought!

But anyway.. get the daytime dryness under control first. When the brain is in control!!
